NAPE Elections


Notice of Election of District Officers &

Delegates to the 2019 Biennial Local Convention and Delegate Assembly


Nominations and elections for District President, District Vice President, District  Secretary-Treasurer, District Sergeant-at-Arms, and Delegates to the Biennial Local Convention and Delegate Assembly will be conducted in March 2019 according to the NAPE/AFSCME Local 61 Constitutional Bylaws.

Eligibility to Hold Office

To be eligible to run for office, the member must be in good standing and have had active member status for twelve consecutive months prior to the election date. If elected, the member must attend steward training within six months of the date of election if they are not currently a certified steward.

Eligibility to Nominate & Vote

Any member with active membership status is eligible to nominate another member or themselves. All members with active membership status may vote by attending the election meeting.


Each position will be elected by a majority of votes cast in the election by secret ballot vote of the members present at the election meeting. For each position, the nominations and the election will be conducted at one time, then will move to the next position and continuing until all positions have been filled in the following order: President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Sergeant-at-Arms. Should a runoff be necessary between candidates, the runoff election will be conducted at the same meeting. After District Officers are elected, elections will be held for Delegates to the Biennial Local Convention and Delegate Assembly. The newly elected District President will become an automatic delegate, and each district will elect the following number of delegates: Colleges (1), Department of Education (1), Greater Lincoln (6), Greater Omaha (4), Niobrara/Ponca (3), Richardson County (1), South Central (3), Panhandle (1), Sandhills (1), Southeast (3), Southwest (1), York (1).

Colleges – Saturday, March 23 – 1pm – Lansky’s – Omaha

Department of Education – Saturday, March 30, 2019 – 12:00pm – NAPE Office – Lincoln

Greater Lincoln – Tuesday, March 12, 2019 – 5:30pm – Rosie’s Sports Bar – Lincoln

Greater Omaha – Thursday, March 21, 2019 – 6pm – Lansky’s – Omaha

Niobrara/Ponca – Wednesday, March 27, 2019 – 6pm – Perkins – Norfolk

Richardson County – Thursday, March 14, 2019 – 4:30pm – Falls City Volunteer Fire Station

South Central – Tuesday, March 26, 2019 – 7pm – Perkins – Kearney

Panhandle – Monday, March 18, 2019 – 6pm – Cappuccino & Company – Scottsbluff
