Tentative Contract Agreement Reached!

NAPE/AFSCME has reached a tentative agreement with the State of Nebraska on a new contract for over 8,000 state employees to run from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023. Highlights of the tentative agreement include:

  • A step pay plan that moves employees toward their classification maximum each year
  • A $12/hour minimum salary for all employees
  • 50% increase in on call pay
  • Increase to shift differential for 3rd shift employees
  • Columbus Day & Injury Pay returned to the ā€œEā€ Bargaining Unit
  • Negotiated Evaluation Procedure
  • No changes to sick/vacation leave or minimum insurance coverage

In order for the tentative agreement to become final, NAPE members must vote by a majority in each bargaining unit to accept the agreement at a ratification meeting. NAPE will host ratification meetings around the state from November 30-December 18. While only NAPE members can vote to ratify the agreement, all employees are welcome to attend a meeting. Non-members can join at the meeting and vote immediately.

You can view a copy of the ratification meeting schedule here.

Please Note: As of November 25, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department has limited in person meetings to 10 people. The previously scheduled meeting on December 8 will now be held virtually (Registration link below.) In order to attend either the December 12 or December 18 meetings in Lincoln at “The Foundry” you must RSVP in advance by clicking here so we can ensure we are under 10 people per meeting.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, NAPE will also host three virtual ratification meetings. Members who attend the virtual meeting will be sent a mail-in ballot, which must be returned and received no later than December 21 in order to be counted. Non-members who attend the virtual meeting will have the opportunity to join at the meeting and also be sent a mail-in ballot. To participate in the virtual meeting, you must register in advance:

Register Here for Thursday, December 3 at 7:30pm central time

Register Here for Monday, December 7 at 7:00pm central time

Register Here for Tuesday, December 8 at 6:00pm central time

If you plan to attend an in person meeting, masks are required and social distancing will be observed. We also encourage you to confirm in person meetings on our website for any last minute changes due to the pandemic or inclement weather.

We are proud of the hard work of our negotiations team, and look forward to sharing the full tentative agreement and answering your questions at the ratification meetings!
