NAPE Member’s Son Wins LK Emry Scholarship

The LK Emry Memorial Labor Education Scholarship is awarded to a student who has a parent, grandparent, or guardian who is an affiliated member of the Lincoln Central Labor Union. This year’s recipient was William Cole, son of NAPE member Silvia Betta Cole. Silvia works at the Foster Care Review Office and has been a NAPE member for nearly six years.

William was selected based on his involvement in the community and his submission of an essay that describes the importance of the labor movement to society. William spends his time volunteering at the Lincoln Community Playhouse, participating in theater productions at Lincoln Northeast High School, and working towards becoming an Eagle Scout, which he achieved this last November. Some of William’s significant projects as a scout involved building a new picnic area outside of the Lincoln Community Playhouse, becoming a staff member at a Scout Leadership Camp, and conducting numerous projects geared towards environmental improvement.

William would like to continue pursuing his interest in theater and will attend the University of Nebraska Lincoln in the Fall of 2022. He anticipates being involved in as many University theater productions as possible while exploring a career in voice acting. Congratulations to the Cole family for this exciting opportunity!
