New Steward Training Class – March 16

A training class for union members wishing to become a new union steward will be held in Lincoln on Saturday, March 16 from 9am-3pm. A union steward is a worksite leader who is trained on our contract and the law to help assist fellow employees in the workplace. Click here to register for the March 16 training.

NAPE/AFSCME offers initial steward training throughout the year in various locations around the state. To become a steward, members take two classes: a contract training class and a representation training class. The classes can be completed in any order and each takes two hours to complete.

On Saturday, March 16, NAPE/AFSCME will offer an opportunity for members to take both training classes in one day to become immediately certified. This will be the final opportunity to take both classes if a member plans to run for election as a delegate to the 2024 Bargaining Conference. NAPE/AFSCME will pay for a hotel room in Lincoln on the evening of Friday, March 15 for those traveling more than 60 miles to attend the March 16 training.

Members not planning to run as a delegate to the 2024 Bargaining Conference can also sign up for future training classes on our website by clicking here. These classes are held around the state at various times. The two part training can be completed in any order. Contact us if you have additional questions about becoming a union steward.
