In November, forty union members attended our fall NAPE/AFSCME Leadership Training. New and returning stewards learned valuable skills to grow our union and have a stronger voice in the workplace. Newly certified stewards were trained on our rights under our union contract, representation skills, and ways to organize and lead in the workplace. Union stewards are trained to assist fellow employees in the workplace.
“The strength of a union is based on its members and its member leaders. Stewards are essential to building a strong union support network across Nebraska,” said NAPE/AFSCME member Amy Peters (DHHS, Lincoln). “Our union needs stewards to share the victories, successes, and issues that state workers have.”
