Scottsbluff Laundry Worker Paid After Shift Differential Grievance Filed

In November 2021, our NAPE bargaining team negotiated a historic midterm deal with over 47-million dollars in pay increases, including the largest raise for all NAPE-covered state employees in the last fifteen years. Another major victory for NAPE members was a $3 per hour differential for all hours worked at 24-hour care facilities within DHHS, Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Corrections.

NAPE member Barb Pursley is a laundry worker at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff. When Barb realized that she hadn’t been paid the $3/hour differential for the hours she worked on Christmas Eve, she reached out to NAPE. Our field services team looked into the situation and determined the agency had violated our contract.

The NAPE team promptly filed a grievance on Barb’s behalf, and Barb ended up being paid for the shift differential for the hours she worked on Christmas Eve which she was entitled to earn under our contract. If you believe your pay is incorrect, we highly encourage you to contact us immediately so we can look into your situation and take action if appropriate.
