Dozens of Members Become New Union Stewards

In March, two dozen NAPE/AFSCME members took our steward training course and have been certified as new union stewards. Union stewards are workplace leaders who help enforce our contract. NAPE/AFSCME union stewards have done things like secure on-call pay and ensure safe working conditions. Our stewards are also instrumental in helping grow membership in their workplace.

Steward training is composed of two parts: contract training and representation training. Each training equips union members to help assist fellow employees in the workplace.

To become a steward, NAPE/AFSCME members must take both the contract and representation training courses. The courses can be completed in any order. This spring and summer, our union will offer numerous training opportunities across the state. Our next training is a contract training in Omaha on Thursday, April 11 from 6-8pm. Click here to register for an upcoming training, or to express your interest in a future date at a training near you.

These trainings are open to members wishing to become union stewards, those wishing to learn more about their rights on the job, and union members who are already certified stewards for a refresher. Contact us if you have any additional questions.
