Nebraska Primary Election Day is May 14 – Don’t Forget to Vote!

It’s important  for union members to be active voters and elect candidates who support our efforts to strengthen wages and benefits for all state employees. Primary election day is Tuesday, May 14. You will have the opportunity to cast your vote, and we encourage you to vote for candidates who care about the issues affecting state employees, our union, and working families across the state.

In election years, the NAPE/AFSCME Government Affairs Committee (GAC) invites all candidates for the Nebraska Legislature to meet with the committee to discuss their positions on issues that affect our members.

The GAC is a bipartisan group of NAPE/AFSCME union members made up of Democrats, Republicans, and Non-Partisans. In March, dozens of candidates met with our committee. Click here to read a summary of the interviews.

Based on the responses candidates provided to questions regarding the issues that affect state employees, the GAC made endorsement recommendations to our Board of Directors. The Board then approved endorsements for several candidates. Click here for the list of endorsed candidates.
