NAPE/AFSCME union members at the Department of Education have ratified our tentative contract agreement for the July 1, 2025-June 30, 2027 biennium. Union members voted unanimously for the agreement, with voter turnout at 28%. Thank you to everyone who voted.
Highlights of the new contract include:
- Salary increase over two years of 6.5% based on job classification with a satisfactory annual performance evaluation
- Six weeks of paid maternity leave
- Multilingual premium pay of $1.75/hour
- Some sick leave can be donated for catastrophic illness instead of just vacation leave
- Parental leave donation program
- Performance evaluation procedures
A copy of the details presented at the ratification meeting is available here. The State Board of Education is expected to approve the ratified agreement at its next meeting. When it is approved, we will publish the new agreement here. It will take effect July 1, 2025.
We will now turn our attention to organizing and growing our union to give our members an even stronger voice on the job. Our membership is at a record high, and our contract gains over the last three years are reflective of that growth. If you’re not a union member, will you join us today?
