Union member delegates to the 2025 NAPE/AFSCME Delegate Assembly adopted our strategic plan, and officially launched our “4,000 Forward” campaign, with a goal to have 4,000 union members by the time we negotiate our next contract in September 2026.
NAPE/AFSCME union membership has been steadily growing over the past six years as state employees unite together to negotiate higher wages and better benefits, protect their rights, and have the strongest possible voice in the workplace.
In October, our membership set a new record high as we crossed the 3,700 member mark. “It’s so exciting to watch all of our organizing efforts pay off,” said Ashlie Thompson (DHHS, Lincoln). “We have a great group of Volunteer Member Organizers, and it’s great that so many state employees have joined their union.”
With record membership comes record results. We’ve negotiated new benefits such as paid maternity leave, catastrophic sick leave sharing, and higher shift differentials. We’ve enforced our rights and won in hundreds of hearings, in the legislature, and even at the Nebraska Supreme Court.
Having a strong union is crucial to winning in the workplace. With proposed state budget cuts, now is the time to join your union. Stand with your coworkers and protect public services. Join your union today!
