Lincoln Regional Center Surpasses Majority Membership

It’s an exciting time for our union as membership has grown to another record high. With record membership, our voice grows stronger, and we’re getting ready to use that voice when we negotiate our next contract this fall.

More and more worksites across the state have surpassed majority membership. Recently, the Lincoln Regional Center was added to that list.

David Paz, a Statistical Analyst at LRC, has been a union member for five years and understands how important it is to continue to grow our membership. “Collective bargaining is powerful. We can look at what we achieve when we go to the negotiations table in years like this. It’s because the union exists that we can accomplish what we do.”

Last September, NAPE/AFSCME launched our 4,000 Forward campaign, with a goal of reaching 4,000 members before we enter into negotiations. We get closer to our goal everyday, and our leaders and Volunteer Member Organizers are having one-on-one conversations with our colleagues all across Nebraska.

“Union membership means a number of things. It means solidarity, protection and inclusion that we don’t have without union membership. Having the ability to bargain is super important and can’t be overstated,” David said.

If you’ve been on the sidelines, while your colleagues take an active role in fighting for better compensation, benefits and rights in the workplace, now is the time to join. Will you join your union today and be a part of our success?
