Members Lobby at Nebraska State AFL-CIO Legislative Conference

When NAPE/AFSCME members unite together to educate our state senators on important issues for state employees, we use the strongest voice we have to advocate for ourselves and the Nebraskans we serve.

NAPE members joined other union members from AFL-CIO affiliates at the Capitol to lobby our state senators on issues that affect workers across Nebraska. Eight NAPE/AFSCME union members came from across the state to make their voices heard.

Madeline Kettler, a Communications Specialist with the Department of Veteran Affairs, was integral in facilitating conversations with Nebraska state senators. “It was great to speak with senators one-on-one about current issues affecting my fellow union members. I’m hopeful these senators will keep state employees and working families in mind as they navigate the rest of this legislative session,” she said.

Madeline was joined by NAPE/AFSCME members Brandon Brown (Revenue, Lincoln), Toni Bonsera (DHHS, Omaha), Sharon Waters (Game & Parks, Lincoln), Dawn Archuleta (NDCS, Lincoln), Dan DeJong (DWEE, Lincoln), Jason Baker (DHHS, Kearney), and Eric Bachenberg (DHHS, Lincoln).

The AFL-CIO Legislative Conference is an opportunity for NAPE/AFSCME members to learn more about issues affecting workers’ rights across Nebraska, as well as network and build connections with members from other Nebraska unions. Union members heard presentations from worker rights advocates, attorneys, and more about how we can advance the labor movement in Nebraska. As the legislature continues with their short session, make your voices heard on bills that affect you. Keep an eye on your email for action alerts to contact your state senator.
