Our union membership remains at a record high, and we set a goal to have 4,000 union members by the time we begin contract negotiations in September. We’re close to reaching our goal, and now is your chance to help our union grow so we have more power at the bargaining table.
Become a Volunteer Member Organizer (VMO) and participate in our “4,000 Forward Week” from July 17-25. NAPE/AFSCME VMOs are a dedicated force of union members who are trained to inspire, lead, and encourage involvement in our union by growing our membership and encouraging members to become leaders. Last year, our VMOs distributed more than 1,300 goodie bags at more than 40 work sites across the state. More than 200 new members joined our union last July alone!
This year, we’re committed to breaking last year’s record! “4,000 Forward Week” will begin on Friday, July 17 & Saturday, July 18 with a mandatory training in Lincoln for all new and returning VMOs. After training, we’ll spread out across Nebraska from July 20-25 to visit with our colleagues and pass out goodie bags. All union members are invited to serve as a VMO.
You can be excused from work without using your vacation or comp time to participate! NAPE will cover the cost of hotels, food, and travel throughout the week. It’s a great way to get involved in your union, grow your leadership skills, and meet lots of new friends.
