It’s time to make your voice heard for your next contract, and this year there’s a new way to get involved! Our Board of Directors has introduced an opportunity for all NAPE/AFSCME members to take an active role in developing our contract negotiation priorities.
From July 31-August 2, all union members are invited to attend our 2026 Contract Negotiations Summit in Lincoln, where members will discuss priorities, develop contract negotiations proposals, and learn more about serving on NAPE/AFSCME’s negotiations team.
“This Summit is where we will democratically decide our negotiations priorities. Our strength at the bargaining table comes from the workers who stand together, participate, and make their voices heard. We are strongest when members are engaged and united,” said NAPE/AFSCME president Melissa Schmid (DHHS, Fremont).
The deadline to register is June 30, but members are encouraged to register today! Meals will be provided, and members traveling from outside of Lincoln will be provided a hotel room during the Summit.
Our union contract guarantees our incomes, rights, and protections in the workplace. NAPE/AFSCME members are experts in their field and understand what they need to continue to provide public services to our fellow Nebraskans. It’s important to get involved to ensure that our contract reflects the needs of our members. Together we work to negotiate the strongest possible contract.
“I’m excited for all union members to have the opportunity to participate in the negotiations process,” Melissa said. “I look forward to hearing the diverse perspectives and ideas that members bring as we work together to improve our working conditions and win a stronger contract!”
Not a member? The Negotiations Summit is only open to union members. Now’s the time to join your union and make your voice heard. Join our union today!
