Contact negotiations for our next biennium labor contracts with the State of Nebraska, Nebraska State College System, and Nebraska Department of Education are underway!
Our contract negotiations teams began negotiations in September in accordance with state law and will continue negotiating until tentative agreements are reached. The deadline to complete negotiations under state law is December 31.
Early negotiations sessions are an opportunity for the negotiations teams to exchange initial proposals and learn about each other’s priorities. Our union negotiations teams are focused on the priorities that were set by our members:
- Salaries that keep up with the rising cost of living
- Protect our healthcare coverage and control costs
- Make state government more efficient
- Remote work assignments where feasible
- Encourage retirement with incentives like higher sick leave payout
- Paid family leave to recruit a new generation of public employees
- Good governance & accountability with Artificial Intelligence
