State of Nebraska employees continue to become union members in record numbers, and the list of worksites that have united together to reach majority membership also continues to grow.
When employees at the Fremont and Scottsbluff DHHS Customer Service Centers, the Omaha DHHS Intake Center, and the Western Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff ask their colleagues to join our union, the odds are that they’re already looking at a fellow NAPE/AFSCME union member. More than the majority of employees at these worksites are union members, and these high membership levels have directly translated to results for the more than 400 employees.
At the DHHS Fremont CSC, members united together in support of their colleague after she tragically lost her home in a fire. Union members had her back and helped her utilize financial resources through our union to help her get on her feet.
At the DHHS Scottsbluff CSC, members have successfully fought unjust discipline, secured a salary increase after a performance evaluation grievance win, and united together to win back pay after an office closure due to a blizzard.
At the Western Nebraska Veterans Home, not only have members secured record salary increases and shift differentials, union members have won a myriad of grievances, including having unjust discipline overturned, challenging unsatisfactory performance evaluations, and winning a mandatory overtime grievance.
Union members at these facilities know their rights. They also know that the majority of their colleagues will have their back if those rights are violated. Will your worksite be the next to reach majority membership? If you’re not yet a member, join our union today!
