Members Learn their Rights in the Workplace at Kearney Leadership Training

Over two dozen NAPE/AFSCME members attended our spring Leadership Training in Kearney. Members learned about their rights in the workplace, how to grow our union for strength, and got to meet fellow union members from all around our state.

First time attendees participated in our initial steward training curriculum. They were trained on our union contract, prepared to represent members in disciplinary proceedings, and learned how to organize colleagues to have a stronger voice in their workplace. Returning stewards learned how to present New Employee Orientations and represent their fellow members in disciplinary meetings, and identified grievances to support fellow members.

Kylee Wengler, a Social Services Worker with DHHS  was excited to attend a Leadership Training for the first time. “Attending Leadership Training was a great way for me to learn more about my rights in the workplace. I’m glad I could participate and highly recommend it!” Kylee said.

Have you been looking for an opportunity to get more involved in your union? Attending a Leadership Training is a great way to meet fellow NAPE/AFSCME members and learn more about your rights in the workplace.
Each Leadership Training is different, so members are encouraged to attend as many as they like. Click here to learn more and register!
