State College Members Win Major Pay Increase in Mid-Term Contract Negotiations

Over the past few months, NAPE members at Chadron State, Peru State, and Wayne State colleges have been organizing and growing in order to have a stronger voice in the workplace. That effort paid off in March when the State College System agreed to enter into mid-term contract negotiations with NAPE/AFSCME.

NAPE’s bargaining team made up of members Amanda Cole (Peru), Kelly Overshiner (Chadron), Tom Schmitz (Wayne) and Brandon Ziska (Wayne) went to the negotiations table and were able to successfully negotiate a $3/hour across the board pay raise for all state college support staff effective July 1, 2022. This agreement is contingent on the governor signing the state budget into law.

This raise is in addition to a previously negotiated 2% raise on July 1, 2022 and will increase our minimum salary for state college support staff to $15.27. Because of our union’s growth and active involvement of our members, the minimum salary for support staff has increased over 45% in the past two years.

Support staff are invited to an informational meeting on campus to learn more about these salary increases:
