New Contracts with Higher Pay & Benefits For 8,000+ State Employees No In Effect

Our new NAPE/AFSCME union contracts are now in effect! Union members united together to negotiate higher wages and better benefits for the July 1, 2025-June 30, 2027 biennium, and the hard work at the bargaining table has now paid off. That’s the importance of having a strong union!

State of Nebraska Contract

State of Nebraska employees will see salary increases between 6.5-20%+ over the biennium with satisfactory or better performance evaluations. To calculate your July 1, 2025 pay raise, use our salary calculator by clicking here

In addition to higher pay, State of Nebraska union members also negotiated new benefits including:

  • Six weeks of paid maternity leave for FML eligible mothers
  • Multilingual premium pay of $1.75/hour for designated positions
  • Sick leave can be donated across agencies for catastrophic illness instead of just vacation leave within an agency
  • E bargaining unit vacation and sick leave equal to other units
  • Higher NDOT and State Patrol overnight/weekend shift differentials
  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL) premium pay for certain NDOT employees
  • CDL trainer premium pay for NDOT
  • Direct care shift differentials when working out of class

Nebraska State College System Contract

Support staff at the Nebraska State College System will see base salary increases of 2.75% and 2.5% each year of their new contract, and the salary schedule with 5% step increases remains in effect. Nebraska Department of Education Contract

Members at the Nebraska Department of Education will see salary increases of 6.5%+ over the biennium. Additionally, NDE members now have new benefits including:

  • Six weeks of paid maternity leave for FML eligible mothers
  • Multilingual premium pay of $1.75/hour for designated positions
  • Some sick leave can be donated for catastrophic illness instead of just vacation leave
  • Parental leave donation program
  • Performance evaluation procedures
