NAPE/AFSCME Union Membership Reaches 25 Year High

As our 50th anniversary year comes to a close, NAPE/AFSCME union membership is at its highest level since 1997. In the past year, over 1,100 state employees became new NAPE/AFSCME union members, joining with thousands of their colleagues to unite together for better wages and working conditions.

This year we negotiated the best labor contract in the thirty-five year history of the State Employees Collective Bargaining Act. Our state negotiations team was able to secure a record $147 million in additional funds that will result in wage increases for union members over the next 14 months ranging between 10-27%. You can calculate your pay raises using our salary calculator by clicking here.

Because of our growth, our members have a much stronger voice on the job. NAPE/AFSCME members have seen success like never before. In the past year we prevailed in over 90% of grievances that were filed on behalf of members in order to enforce our contract. Our field team has been hard at work making sure our rights are respected on the job.

Now is the time to focus on our future. A union is a group of employees who unite together to protect each other’s own best interests primarily through contract negotiations. This year we proved what a strong union can accomplish. If you are not yet a NAPE/AFSCME union member, click here to learn more and join today

We will begin new contract negotiations next year. Now is the best time to get active in your union. Attend a meeting near you, take a steward training class, and engage with your coworkers about the importance of having such a strong union. Our future together is very bright!
