Union Membership Surpasses 3,800 Members on Path to “4,000 Forward”

Our membership is stronger than ever with over 3,800 members across the state. We set a goal to surpass 4,000 members before contract negotiations begin this fall. We’re closer than ever to beating our goal. We’re going to keep growing this summer in order to strengthen our voice at the bargaining table.

“Having a strong union is crucial as we prepare for contract negotiations in September. The more voices we have, the more bargaining power we have. In the past we’ve negotiated record raises and incredible benefits – that’s because of our record high membership,” said NAPE/AFSCME member Amy Peters (DHHS, Lincoln). “With public services threatened, having a strong union is our best line of defense to protect workers’ rights and livelihoods.”

NAPE/AFSCME members are encouraged to participate in our “4,000 Forward Week” from July 17-25 to help grow our union. This week is a chance for current members to visit with their coworkers about contract negotiations and the importance of a strong union. All NAPE/AFSCME members are invited to participate.
If you’re not currently a union member, now is the time to join our union! Union membership gives you the opportunity to make your voice heard on matters that are important to you during contract negotiations. Join your union today!
