Biennial Delegate Assembly Nominations Due April 21

The election of members to the NAPE/AFSCME Local 61 Biennial Delegate Assembly will take place by mail, in accordance with the NAPE/AFSCME Local 61 Bylaws, during April/May 2023. A full copy of the union bylaws is available by clicking here. Ballots will be sent to all members in good standing on April 28, 2023, and must be returned and received in the NAPE/AFSCME Local 61 office no later than Noon on May 22, 2023. If the number of nominees is equal to or less than the number of positions available, those nominees will be declared elected.

NOMINATIONS OPEN THROUGH APRIL 21, 2023

Members may nominate themselves or another eligible member by clicking here or by returning the paper nomination form by mail or by hand delivery to 1230 O Street, Suite 120, Lincoln, NE 68508. Nominations must be received prior to Noon central time on April 21, 2023.

Nominations will also be accepted verbally, in person, at a nominations meeting on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 5:30pm at the Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall (241 Victory Lane, Lincoln).

ELIGIBILITY

In order to run for office, the union member must meet the qualifications as described above, as well as be an active member in good standing since April 28, 2022. Members of the Board of Directors are automatic delegates and do not need to be nominated or stand for election.

TERM

The 2023 Delegate Assembly will take place August 26 & 27, 2023 in Lincoln. Delegates officially serve a two-year term until the next Delegate Assembly, however, this is the only scheduled meeting during the term.

ABOUT THE DELEGATE ASSEMBLY

The Biennial NAPE Delegate Assembly is the highest decision making body of our union. Delegates are responsible for adopting amendments to our bylaws, strategic plan, and legislative platform. Delegates are also responsible for adopting resolutions and position statements, and they are responsible for electing the five officers of the union.

The 2023 Delegate Assembly will take place in Lincoln August 26 & 27, 2023, with a welcome reception on the evening of August 25.
